Daily use of the product until the new nail has grown in is necessary to completely eradicate the infection. Our expert advisors on issues of the foot recommend application to ALL the nails of the effected foot/feet until the issue has completely cleared up to prevent the infection from spreading.
INCIDENTALLY, we are told that in the US, physicians and dermatologists routinely prescribe a topical treatment for nail fungus which costs patients $1,200.00 US per 10 mL bottle ($1,585.65 CDN at today’s exchange rate). This treatment is seen to be only 25% effective and yet it is still the ‘go-to’ prescription (personal communication from Dr. L. Keller, dermatologist, Sacramento California).
Based on our customer feedback, we estimate at minimum a 90% success rate with dedicated use as directed for our Auntie Fungal Nails. Recommended by foot care nurses, dermatologists, doctors, estheticians and specialists: since the product was developed in 1998, along with Dragonfly Dreaming Auntie Fungal Creme for athletes‘ foot infections.
Selected Testimonials
"Your Auntie Fungal Crème and Oil have worked wonders on the worst cases I have ever seen - and brought tremendous relief to my patients." Susan Tremble, RN, Foot Specialist, creator of the Foot Nurses’ guide and programme for BC (1999)
"The AF Nail Oil is incredible - after applying it to nails that have been fungal for years, the detritus literally falls off in cakes, much to the thanks of my elderly clients, so that I can finally get at some healthy tissue..." June Cable, aesthetician & aesthetics teacher, New Brunswick (1999)
“I HAVE SEEN IT WORK. Dragonfly must have figured something out with this oil, because it has cured my Step-Dad of the toenail fungus he has had in his great toe for years. He used no other interventions except applying it religiously and cleared his nail up. This is great because I am an Advanced Foot Care nurse and now I have a natural option I can recommend to my clients with confidence. Much appreciated!” Chrystal Stevens, RN, Foot Care Specialist and owner of Longevity Healthcare on Oct 03, 2017
“ WORKED BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS. I damanged 2 toenails while hiking several years ago and acquired fungus that would not go away. The nails were very raised and painful. Over the counter drug store remedies weren’t working so I eventually tried prescription medication that required frequent blood tests to make sure my liver wasn’t being damaged. Nothing changed after many, many months of this (and I want to keep my liver thanks) so I gave up. A few months ago in a “what the heck, what do I have to lose” mood I ordered Auntie Fungal and was so pleased to find it worked! My nails are finally growing in flat and straight and I’ll be getting pedicures all next summer.” Amy E. A. on Nov 30, 2017
"I was referred to you by a friend. I have a fungus on my index finger that just won't go away. She let me use her Auntie Fungal™ crème and my success with it is better than all of the prescriptions my doctors were trying me on. I'd like to order the Auntie Fungal™ crème along with the bug repellent." - Debbie Fisher, Arizona, USA (2004)

"Never complain, never explain" or ... True Stories from Back Stage
I've been deep in the trenches of year-end book-keeping and analyzing all the numbers with my accountant and advisors since we were snowed in in mid-December. NOT my favourite way to spend precious holidays, I can promise you! But these things have to be done - as an old mentor once told me, "You HAVE to know your business by the numbers" and being as we are a business, sometimes we have to make hard decisions.
As I am sure you're aware, we are all trying to cope with inflation and cost rises relating to oil and global issues beyond our control. Shipping is one of the aspects of our business that had been especially challenged by this (did we mention, we're NOT Amazon?). We've been shipping via courier or Canada Post for 25 years now, and have never seen rates like those we're dealing with now - fuel surcharges as well.
We have managed to maintain our policy of giving FREE shipping across this entire country when you order $100 worth of products, with extremely low shipping prices for orders under $100. In the vast majority of cases, we are either completely or partially subsidizing the shipping, even if you did make a 'contribution' towards it.
As an example - say you're in Ontario and you order $101 worth of product. Your shipping is free to you - it USED to cost me around $18 to send that box - but NOW it's costing me $35! That's a huge gap - it's basically a WHOLESALE discount and although that's one of the extreme cases, it's crossed the viable line, big time.
And so, with last year's numbers staring me in the face, we have to make some changes. We could double our product prices, (and in some cases that would be absolutely justified, given the rise in containers costs in particular); but we're trying VERY hard to not do that, and maintain our extremely reasonable prices for you, our loyal customers.
But having lost over $2,000 in shipping alone last year (yup, you're backstage now!), here are the changes I have been quietly talking about for some months now. It's not all bad news though, so please stick with me!
• We will continue to offer FREE SHIPPING - not only within Canada, but ALSO to the US and internationally! Your free shipping will kick in based on your purchase, and also depending on where you're located. If you don't reach your free point, you'll be offered standard shipping at a nominal rate. These prices referent to pre-tax purchases, by the way.
- BC - $15 standard, and $119.99 and up - FREE
- Prairies - $20 standard, $149.99 and up - FREE
- Rest of Canada - $30 standard, $149.99 and up - FREE
- USA + other international destinations - $30 standard, $149.99 and up - FREE
We're going to give this a shot for a few months and see where we land with it. I hope you can appreciate our situation, and continue to support us. Here are a few ideas that could make things easier though...
• Come to the studio! We're a mere 40 minutes from central Victoria and although we need a bit of notice, we'd love to see you! Take a busman's holiday and make a day of exploring lovely Cowichan whilst you're here!
• BUDDY UP! If you've got a friend or family member who is close to your place, and also is a Dragonfly Dreaming fan, maybe consider putting in an order together? Then have a nice reason for a visit when your joint order arrives, too!
• Our product shelf life is very stable and won't go 'off' in the short term - so doubling up on things you use regularly (or bumping up to the MEGA size) will help with our overall carbon footprint as well (bonus).
• We DO offer some products in mega sizes (and will be adding more over the next weeks) - feel free to contact us to ask if we can add your favourite necessity to the list. Again, that really helps with us being able to keep our costs down (did I mention container issues? still ongoing I'm afraid), as well as carbon footprint.
• If you need 'almost' enough to reach your FREE shipping, why not think about the next birthday gift (or such) you've got coming up, and add that to the list? Easy peasy shopping, you reach your goal and help us by spreading the word about Dragonfly Dreaming (with our thanks!).
• One final idea - how about giving yourself a few minutes to have a look through our catalogue? You might find things you had no idea we make, and which might be just the thing you need!
So, while I wish I were the Queen, sometimes one simply has to spill the tea! I really hope you can understand our dilemma and continue to support us - so we can continue to support YOU! Thank you, from our hearts!
We've got them up on facebook and encourage everyone to check them out, as well as our Testimonial Page to learn more about our products.
Much love,
Beth

It's hard to believe how quickly twenty-two years can fly when you're having ... fun?
When I think of the dramatic shifts in awareness, the explosive changes brought about by the techno revolution, and the fact that our Kate will soon be 21 ~ well, I'm simply astonished. But thinking globally and acting locally has long been our motto and we're doing our best to keep up with the tech while staying true to our roots as organically as ever... Talk about steep learning curves!
Celebrations are in order! Thanks to our countless numbers of supporters, adamant fans and delightful Dragonfliers, we're truly thrilled to be turning 22 this year! So we're gathering up our party people - the more the merrier! - in 'proper' subscription format to streamline communications and stay in touch.
So if you haven't yet done so, do please join our mailing list! The subscription button is on the bottom of our home page (just scroll down from here). We promise of course that we'll not share or use your info for anything other than dropping you an occasional note to let you know what's up AND entering you in for free gifts well ~
Thanks for being in the story...

Kate says she's already gone through the jar I gave her at Christmas, 'it is BRILLIANT!' she says (I think she's just buttering me up hahah) ... I think we have Before 9's (can you guess the flavour?); Tropical Fruit Punch, Joe Blow Buff & Slough COFFEE scrub... (honestly, I'm not making this up! well, actually, yeah, I DID make them up.... but it's for real!)...
If I don't get some fresh air soon... we'll all be in trouble! See you next week!

• Cobble Hill Seedy Saturday March 12th, 10.00 - 3.00
The sixteenth annual Cobble Hill Seedy Saturday invites you to help us celebrate our '100 Mile Spring' with everything a gardener could need - or want! Over 30 vendors will offer a full range of organic and heritage seeds, plant starts, flower bulbs, fruit and nut trees - and mason bees to fertilize them - compost, Japanese pruning ladders and even organic salves and mineral soaks for sore gardeners' bods!
The most obscure and esoteric plant questions can always be answered by our knowledgeable Master Gardeners, while the permaculture people have all kinds of ideas about how you can make your garden more sustainable and interesting. Everyone is always itching to share their plant lore, and Mums and Dads can unleash the kids on the the childrens' activities while they visit with friends, bring their own seeds to swop at the seed exchange table (or buy a pack for a mere quarter!), and load up those cloth bags with wee envelopes of summer's garden joy.
We are open from 10 am until 3.00, so you can enjoy a delicious light lunch or snack, care of our own Womens' Institute, and soak up enough inspiration to propel you into the garden. This extremely popular community event is sponsored by the Shawnigan Cobble Hill Farmers Institute, which celebrated its 100th anniversary a few years ago and continues to blossom from deep roots in our bucolic and authentic south Cowichan agricultural tradition.
Date: Saturday, March 12th 2016, 10 am - 3 pm
Location: Cobble Hill Farmer’s Institute Hall, 3550 Watson Avenue, Cobble Hill Village

I returned home from a fantastic but very tiring week on The Continent to find this waiting for me from dear Teri (of Sweet Maggie's Farm - super yummy organic veggies in Cow Bay) ~ ironically, I had used up half my travel jar to fix ZZ's (badly) stubbed toe and KT's kitchen burns... not to mention my own heel cracks!
"All of this kitchen/garden work has given a beating to my hands. Three days ago I noticed that my thumb had a tender spot, it seriously 'split' later in the day - a 1/2 cm split right on the tip (where we use it all the time, I can share). ouch and dang - how to continue but avoid pain and infection? So I got Maggie to help - we used a q-tip to put some of Beth Lischeron's Dragonfly Dreaming Rose Salve on the cut and then artfully (not skillfully - artfully) applied some bandaids. 36 hours later, one more application of rose salve, some sad use of a latex glove to protect the hand, and I can say with ASTONISHMENT that it has softened and doesn't hurt and is on its way to healing. I always swear by Beth's Rose Salve, but I forget to use it myself. Silly Me. This is yet another proof that it is a serious healing salve, particularly at harvest season when my hands are in the water so much of the time. I don't know what magic she puts into this stuff, and I don't care. it works, AND it smells so wonderful!!"
Yes it finally arrived - RAIN here on the Wet Left Coast for a good few weeks - and now a gorgeous classic end-of-summer - the apples are falling off the tree, there to be left for the flocks of cat-dodging quail and the myriad other 'aminals' (as Kate used to call them) who come to drink at our wee pond.
With school back in and Equinox passed, we're busy finishing up the harvest work, inventing new goodies, rebuilding stock and booking Christmas shows... will be listing those soon!
Meanwhile, a happy fall to you all!
]]>It's amazing that it was over 15 years ago that I started the Cowichan Lavender Initiative - and the Cowichan Festival of Lavender - largely because it's such useful and hardy plant in our dry summers. Little did I know back in 2000 that we'd be experiencing the worst drought in over a century in 2015.
The extended drought here in Cowichan at least meant that (for once) I fully beat the rain and harvested and distilled all the lavender - whew! Here's the last of many hundreds of baskets' worth, cut in the peak of the heat (45 celsius on my deck for days!) - that's gotta be worth a few calories burned!
So the plants and I were able to really soak up the downpour when it finally came this weekend and feel no regrets whatsoever. It was a perfect day to get caught up on production - lip balms, presided over by one of my Kitchen Goddesses - the Gay Obachan - who reminds me to find joy in wearing an apron (and other Small Things)...
After the weekend's rain I can hear the lawnmowers starting up around the village for the first time in months.... nothing much beyond 'clocks' to cut. But the Montbretia certainly appreciated the watering, along with the rest of us.
Fortunately, I managed to get my wee pond into healthier shape (plants plants plants!) so I haven't been troubled by mozzies since the June swarms. But that gave me the opportunity to check (yet again) the efficacy of Bug Her Off! and I can attest that it really does work! So given that the last bottle went off with young Trevin and his Mum yesterday, I think that has to be up next on the production list. Back to the apron...

"Hello Beth,
I was just wondering if you have any of your magic potions that would help my husband to stop smoking? Also do you have any cleaning products or something that would take the place of the chemical cleaners that are out there.
I have told EVERYONE I know who is having hot flashes about your amazing product and telling them where to get it! I use my Power Surge daily and it has made such a difference in my life. I still get the hot flashes at times but they are nothing compared to what they were.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
cheers
Trish"
What a sweetie she is! of course we have 'Le Bon Homme' that does just about everything (except take out the compost alas) ~ on the smoking... hmmm... that's a little more difficult...
Last year’s leaves still need to be scraped & raked, but First Spring - and Love! - are definitely all around here in the Warm Land. The robins are back, the hummers are enjoying fountain showers and the snowdrops are emerging ~ time to come out of hibernation!

"Thank you so much. The 3 lip balms arrived today. Thank you so much. This is the best I have ever used. My grandchildren (5 & 7) have severely chapped lips and won't use anything that smells or has a taste. They have been using the (Dragonfly Dreaming lip) balm that E. sent me and we see vast improvement.
Great product!"

and our latest pal, "Biking Buddy' who has yet to sit still and have his photo taken... he is flavoured with Blood Orange essential oil - super yummy!
